Local Resources and Information for Eligibility

Interior Health Adult Day Program supports “health services and recreational activities for seniors and people with disabilities” (Interior health, 2021). The Adult Day Services goal is support programs in the community for people at risk of losing their independence. Adult Day Services “are designed to help individuals to remain at home while supporting caregivers by providing a range of health, personal, social and recreational services in a safe and caring environment” (Interior health, 2021).

Examples of services available within the Adult Day Services across Interior Health include (may depending upon location):

  • Health Monitoring such as physical assessments, blood pressure, nutrition, pain, personal care concerns
  • Supporting Caregivers wellbeing  by providing supportive programs specific to caregiver education, support, connecting community resources and respite care
  • Purposeful therapeutic social and recreational programs

When living at home not longer meeting your care needs, your local Home and Community Care office is available to assist you with options. Interior Health believes the best quality of life is achieved by remaining in one’s own home environment for as long as possible. To this end, the Home and Community Care Case Manager will complete an assessment and help you explore options that will allow you to manage in your home.

Ultimately, access and waitlist to Long-Term Care Services is based on a person’s assessed need and risk. Long-term care supports adults with complex health care needs requiring 24-hour professional care due to physical disability, mental or behavioural conditions, including brain injuries or dementia.

All long-term care facilities in British Columbia (public and private) must provide care that meets established standards. Our Interior Health Community Care Licensing office ensures these standards are met.
